Demand's up for luxury vehicles | detnews.com | The Detroit News: "Christmas is a big deal in Germany, but auto workers there are taking shorter winter holidays this year as German carmakers churn out more premium cars for booming export markets. German automakers have trimmed the traditional Christmas holidays, and Daimler AG and BMW are keeping some plants running between Christmas and New Year's.
Germany's market is in a deep slump, with sales down 25.2 percent in the first 11 months of the year. But strong demand for luxury cars in other markets, notably China and the United States, have more than offset the contraction in Germany, where demand was pulled forward by that country's generous cash-for-clunkers incentives last year."

Middle East and Terrorism: Terror Threat in Spain Continues: "Police in Spain and Thailand smashed a counterfeiting ring earlier this month, saying it aimed to provide fake European passports to al-Qaida. It's the latest example of Spain's place at the heart of European terrorist activity, serving as a staging ground for multiple plots and enduring the devastating March 2004 Madrid train bombings.

Despite its efforts, American officials have expressed concerns – and at times frustration – about Spain's terror growth, State Department cables released by Wikileaks show."

Princess Mary and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy also ranked highly."

Will bank reforms help Spain?: "Spain is going to get rid of one of “the weak links of its chain”, i.e. to restructure the savings banks, which are planned to be enlarged so that the authorities could estimate their condition and help them in case of emergency.

Such savings banks are engaged in 50% of banking operations around the country, but they are burdened with bad debts.

In the meantime the Euro currency rate is moving back and forth around the same level. By now the price has stopped close to its low at 1.3072 and started to grow. According to the Department of studying Masterforex-V trading system , there is a newly-formed shortened wave. Wikileaks and Julian Assange. Shlomo ben Ami, Avigdor Lieberman, the Mossad...Here's How Wikileaks Killed Spain's Anti-Piracy Law: "Here's basically how it went down:
Spain is apparently one of the worst countries out there when it comes to online piracy.

Since most of the content that is being pirated comes from the US entertainment industry, the industry leaned on the US government to do something about Spain.

The US government leaned on Spain, which drafted a tough law that would allow a government panel and a judge to block illegal filesharing sites.

Then Wikileaks happened; the cables showed how the US government had leaned on Spain to get the law passed, which embarrassed the government.

Now the law's dead."

Spain bans smoking in bars, restaurants | AHN: "Spanish parliamentarians on Wednesday approved a tough anti-smoking law, which restricts individuals from smoking in an enclosed area. The ban will come into effect starting January 2, 2011. Smokers will not be allowed to smoke in bars, restaurants, or near school playgrounds and hospitals.

Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero proposed the bill and the Lower House passed it by a 189 to 154 vote.
The move has upset bar and café owners, who fear that it will indirectly affect their business. Spain had already imposed anti-smoking law in 2006, but lighting up in any enclosed public space will end its famed image of smoke-filled bars, corner cafes and restaurants.
The lawmakers, meanwhile, rejected an amendment call to either allow casinos to have smoking zones or build sealed cubicles for smokers.
However, doctors are happy with the new legislation with the hope that this will help smokers to give up the habit.
Nearly 160 Spaniards die every day from smoking-related illness. Spanish Health Minister Leire Pajin has requested all citizens to share responsibility to make the new law a success."

Rollercoaster: The Turbulent Life and Times of Vodafone and Chris GentVodafone Appoints Shameel Aziz Joosub Spain CEO to Turn Around Ailing Unit - Bloomberg: "Vodafone Group Plc replaced the chief executive officer of its Spanish unit as the world’s largest mobile-phone company tries to turn around the business in one of its worst-performing European markets.

Shameel Aziz Joosub, an executive director of Vodafone’s Vodacom unit in South Africa, was named CEO after Francisco Roman was appointed executive chairman, Simon Gordon, a company spokesman, said today via phone. The new CEO will report to Roman, he said.

First-half service revenue at the Spanish unit, excluding currency swings and acquisitions, fell 7.1 percent while declining 1.3 percent in Europe as a whole, Vodafone said in November. European service revenue accounted for about two- thirds of total sales last year.

Faced with unemployment at almost 20 percent in Spain and the deepest government budget cuts in three decades, Vodafone’s local unit has struggled to attract customers to higher-priced smartphones. Spain, reeling from the collapse of a debt-fueled housing boom, has the highest unemployment rate in the euro region and the third-largest budget deficit."

Dentistry In Spain: "People travel to Spain for its beautiful coasts, Mediterranean diet, and late nights of salsa dancing, among other attractions. What most people don't know is that Spain houses some of the best quality dental care providers at highly reduced costs. Dentistry in Spain is as advanced as the best clinics in the UK and the U.S., but can cost up to forty percent less.
The country's distinctly rich history does not disappoint visitors interested in experiencing a uniquely vivacious culture that can counteract somewhat languid dental treatments. Nonetheless, the quality of care given by dentists in Spain does not disappoint those traveling for medical tourism. Dentistry in Spain is a highly successful industry."
